03 January 2002 - Eurogentec signed subcontracting agreement with Delphi Genetics

Belgium, Liège - 3 January 2002

EUROGENTEC and Delphi Genetics have signed an agreement for the design of highly specific optimal oligonucleotides and primer pairs.

Delphi Genetics will use a software implementing original procedures developed by Daniel Van Belle (ULB), and Michel C. Milinkovitch (ULB, and vice-president of Delphi Genetics). The method allows a fully automated design of highly specific optimal primers on an arbitrary number of target sequences.

The software is adapted to various applications and, among others, offers the service of designing specific optimal primer pairs (for PCR amplification) or longer oligonucleotides (for direct robotic deposition) on hundreds or thousands of Open Reading Frames.

The customer provides the genome primary structure and the coordinates of target sequences. The list of optimal primers is provided after a short period (typically, a couple of weeks for 5000 primer pairs).

"Entrusting the design of oligonucleotide and primer pairs to Delphi Genetics will further improve the high quality of our services to the genomic community" said Daniel Maréchal, Business Development Manager at EUROGENTEC. Philippe Gabant, CEO of Delphi Genetics was equally enthusiastic as he declared that "this agreement is probably the starting point for a synergetic partnership between our two companies ".

EUROGENTEC is among the world largest suppliers of oligonucleotides. The company was founded in 1985 as a spin-off of the University of Liège (Belgium). Its mission is to design and deliver reliable and innovative services and products for the Life-Science community. As a leading supplier for genomic and proteomic research, Eurogentec is able to offer its customers integrated solutions, whether they use DNA, antibodies, peptides or proteins as research tools. Eurogentec also offers research and development services for the biopharmaceutical industry.

Delphi Genetics is a recently founded spin-off company of the Free University of Brussels (ULB). Delphi Genetics manages leading patents in the cloning technology market and offers various services in molecular biology and bioinformatics.
